Lebanon.Byblos

Continuously inhabited for more than 7000 years Jbeil is claimed to be the oldest city in the world. Here are remains of Neolithic, Middle Bronze Age, Amorite, Egyptian, Hyksos, Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab and Crusader origin. Byblos most important legacy is the famous sarcophagus of Ahiram, king of Byblos in the 13th century BC which bears a Phoenician inscription written in the ancestor of today's alphabet. Byblos, cradle of civilization gave its name to the Bible. Byblos provides more than archeological interest as the town itself retains much of its ancient charm.
