 The Capital of the Republic of Lebanon is unique among world capitals in that it is strategically located at the crossroads of three continents Asia, Africa and Europe. With a population of more than one million inhabitants, it is a fascinating city of contrast and a meeting place of East and West. Beirut today is the hub of commerce, the banking and finance of the region as a whole, as well as its cultural and medical focus. It is a great business center with some 85 Lebanese banks, countless import-export firms, arbitrage and triangular trade operation and free exchange market. Nowadays, with the return of peace to Lebanon, many projects are being implemented to rebuild modernized Beirut while retaining its charm of as the heart of Lebanon and the Middle East.
