Lebanon.Deir El Kamar
|
|
Deir el Kamar was the residence of the Maan and Chehab; governors of Lebanon from the 16th century to the 18th century. The little capital is considered as the cradle of Lebanese unity. As evidence of its past status, Deir El Kamar square is surrounded by various buildings from the 17th- 18th century. In the beginning of the 19th century, for security reason, Emir Beshir Shehab had to move the capital to Beiteddine, where he built a palace, which is a masterpiece of Oriental Architecture. |
