Lebanon.Baalbeck

 Located in the Beckaa plain, 85km North-East of Beirut, Baalbeck remains one of its greatest historic sites. In it, are the most colossal monuments ever to be found in the Roman period. The Roman Temple group is called Acropolis. The Temples include: the Temple of Jupiter. Only six columns remain of the temples original 54 - each column measuring 65 feet in height and 7 feet in diameter and are the largest in the world today; the Temple of Bacchus with its beautiful columns and wall carvings, and a small Temple of Venus in its original circular design. It is in this ancient city that the famous Baalbeck festivals are held every summer.
