The fortified city of Anjar, 55km East of Beirut, was build in the early 8th century in the Beckaa plain by the Ommayyad Caliph of Damascus. Known as “The Desert of the Palace“, the royal city which is almost square in shape with sides measuring 1300ft. was designed on a Greek Roman plan. |
