The Saye, a cotton cloth usually striped lengthwise with silk, has traditionally been one of the most popular textiles. In Turkish the fabric is called “ Alaja”, and in Arabic, “ Qutni”. The design of the fabric varies according to the size of the stripes and the sequence of colors. Today, this fabric is used for upholstery as well as wall coverings and clothing. Aleppo is the center of Saye production.
